Quality Assurance Technician

An alternate responsibility for overall food safety, HACCP/FDA/CCOF compliance, and quality systems management.  The Quality Assurance Technician will overlap in duties with Food Production and Warehouse Distribution teams to ensure that safe, quality food is produced. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Maintain proper sanitation and personal hygiene practices

  • Follow and enforce strict organic manufacturing policies and procedures to ensure compliancy with CCOF

  • Complete HACCP documents on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis

  • Verify completeness and accuracy of facility HACCP documents

  • Ensure sanitation standards are followed by overseeing procedures for compliance

  • Participate in audits and regulatory visits, including HACCP, COOF, FDA, and State/local health inspectors

  • Document opportunities and inconsistencies with any procedures and report to appropriate management team(s)

  • Complete daily sanitation, facility, and quality documents

  • Works with cross-functional team(s) to make claims on damaged or non-conforming product received at facilty

  • Meet with team leaders during shift to determine needs and answer questions regarding production or quality troubleshooting

  • Calibrate thermometers against NIST on a daily basis

  • Monitor temperatures of refrigerated areas

  • Routine swabbing of production areas, maintain food sampling practices with 3rd party laboratory

  • Conduct daily testing of sauce and raw materials for pH and Brix

  • Perform monthly audits with QA Leadership to ensure all food safety procedures are being completed 

  • Complete audits of inventory lot tracking

  • Implement and maintain HACCP based food safety plans and documents

  • Promptly communicate all safety related issues and concerns

  • Any and all other functions as determined by management

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Required Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent

  • HACCP Training

  • Knowledge of Produce quality assessment techniques

  • 4 years of food service experience

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly  

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Regular stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, and walking

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to withstand temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Fahrenheit to 70 degrees Fahrenheit
